Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now, the small one. It’s a classic, you know? So I finally got around to it, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First things first, I gathered all my materials. I already had some Saffiano leather scraps lying around from a previous project. They weren’t big enough, but I decided to use them anyway. A big piece of new Saffiano would be a little expensive. Then I needed the lining, the hardware, and of course, the tools. I used a ruler to measure it to make sure everything was accurate. It’s really a mess but I was excited, so I just went for it.
Breaking It Down
Then I took apart an old, beat-up bag for practice. I don’t want to damage a real Prada. And I carefully studied how it was constructed. This part was actually kind of fun, like solving a puzzle. After that, I used the old bag to create a pattern. I did it, and the size of my bag was almost the same as the real one. That made me happy.
Putting It Together
Next, I cut out the leather using my pattern. This was the most nerve-wracking part, to be honest. One wrong cut and I could ruin the whole thing. Luckily, it went smoothly. Then came the sewing. I used my trusty old sewing machine, and let me tell you, it’s seen better days. But it still works, so that’s all that matters. I carefully stitched the pieces together, following the pattern I made.
The lining was a bit tricky. I chose a nice, soft fabric, but it kept bunching up. Eventually, I got it to cooperate. I used a scissor to cut the lining and stitched it to the bag. I made a mistake, and I had to redo the lining for a second time. That took me a whole afternoon. After that, I added the hardware, which was surprisingly easy. The Prada logo was the last touch. I found a similar one online but I really don’t know where it came from. I carefully attached it to the front of the bag, and voila! It’s kinda bad but I still love it.
The Final Product
It’s not perfect, of course. It has some flaws and mistakes, but I’m still pretty proud of it. It looks just like the real thing, at least from afar. And it was a great learning experience. I learned so much about bag construction, and I definitely improved my sewing skills.

- Was it worth it? Absolutely.
- Do I recommend others to do it? Hmm… maybe not.
It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. And now I have a one-of-a-kind Prada Galleria bag, even though it’s not perfect. That’s pretty cool, right?
