Alright, so I’ve been seeing this Yves Saint Laurent LE CARRÉ SATCHEL BAG around, and I gotta say, it’s got that look, you know? The kind that just doesn’t go out of style. So I thought, why not try to remake one myself? I mean, how hard could it be, right?
First thing I did was to look up as much as I could about this bag. Pictures, descriptions, anything I could get my hands on. I wanted to make sure I got all the details right. This bag, it’s simple, but it’s all about the little things, the details. It’s not one of those flashy bags with big logos, it’s more subtle than that.
Then I started sketching. Now, I’m no artist, but I did my best to draw out the bag, making notes of the dimensions, the hardware, the stitching, everything. I measured my old bag that’s about the same size, just to get a feel for how big this YSL bag should be.
Next up, materials. I went to this local store that sells all kinds of fabrics and stuff. I picked up some leather that I thought looked pretty close to the original. It’s not the exact same, but hey, it’s a remake, right? I also grabbed some metal pieces for the buckle and the strap. Oh, and thread, can’t forget the thread.
- Started cutting the leather, following my sketches.
- Sewed the pieces together, which took forever.
- Attached the hardware, which was a bit tricky.
- And finally, added the strap.
It wasn’t easy, I’ll tell you that. Sewing leather is tough, especially when you’re trying to make it look neat. And getting the hardware on just right, that took some patience. But after a few days, a lot of sweat, and maybe a few curse words, I had my own version of the Yves Saint Laurent LE CARRÉ SATCHEL BAG.
It’s not perfect, not by a long shot. But you know what? I made it. And it looks pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Plus, I saved a ton of money. This bag usually costs a fortune, but I made mine for way less.
Now, about the quote. I’m not sure how much it would cost to have someone make this for you professionally. But if you’re like me and don’t mind a little DIY, you can definitely do it for cheaper. Just be prepared to put in some work. I heard that if you want the real deal, this bag is “Made in Italy”. Mine? Well, it’s made in my living room, but it still looks great.
So, if you’re thinking about getting this bag but don’t want to spend a ton of cash, maybe try making one yourself. It’s a fun project, and you’ll have a unique bag that you can say you made with your own two hands. Just remember, it’s all about the details. And patience. Lots of patience.
Would I do it again?
Probably not. It was fun, but it was also a lot of work. But hey, now I have a cool bag and a good story to tell.
