Okay, so I got this idea to remake a Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition bag. The small one. I’ve always liked the look of it, and I figured, why not try to make one myself?

First, I gathered all my materials. I already had some Saffino leather lying around from a previous project, so that was a good start. I also needed some lining fabric, a zipper, some hardware, and, of course, the Prada logo. I found a decent replica online. Not perfect, but good enough for this project.

Next, I studied a bunch of pictures of the bag online. I wanted to get the dimensions and the overall shape just right. It took a while, but I eventually drafted a pattern that I thought would work.

  • Cut out the leather pieces using my pattern. This was probably the most tedious part, honestly. Gotta be super precise, you know?
  • Sew the main body pieces together. I used my trusty old sewing machine for this. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done.
  • Attach the zipper. This was a bit tricky, but I managed to do it without too much trouble.
  • Add the lining. I chose a nice, soft fabric that I thought would complement the Saffiano leather well.
  • Finally, add the hardware and the Prada logo. This was the fun part! It really made the bag come together.

The whole process took me a couple of days, working on and off. There were definitely some moments of frustration, like when I accidentally sewed a piece on backward and had to redo it. But overall, it was a pretty enjoyable experience. It felt relaxing to work step by step.

The Final Result

And you know what? I’m actually really happy with how it turned out! It’s not an exact replica, of course, but it definitely captures the spirit of the original. And it’s something I made with my own two hands, which is pretty cool. I carried it out to get some groceries, and a lady even asked me where I got it! That made me laugh. It’s not perfect, some of the stitching is a little wonky, and the logo isn’t perfectly centered, but hey, it’s mine, and it’s unique. Maybe I’ll try making another one sometime, a different model, who knows? It’s a fun little hobby to have.
