Okay, so I’ve been seeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano bag everywhere lately, and I just had to try to make one myself. It’s the small version, the special edition one, and it’s supposed to be a classic style. I thought, “Why not? Let’s give it a shot!”

First things first, I gathered all my materials. I went out and got some Saffiano leather, which is what Prada uses. It’s got this cool, textured look to it. I also picked up some matching thread, a zipper, and some hardware like buckles and rings. Getting all this stuff together took a bit of time, I visited a few different stores to make sure I was getting something that looked and felt right.

Next, I needed a pattern. I looked around online and found a few that were similar to the Galleria. I ended up picking one that seemed the most accurate and printed it out. I carefully cut out all the pattern pieces from the leather. This part was kind of nerve-wracking, not gonna lie. I didn’t want to mess up the leather, it wasn’t exactly cheap!

Once the pieces were cut, I started to assemble the bag. I used my sewing machine for most of it. Sewing the leather was tough, definitely different from sewing regular fabric. My machine was struggling a bit, but I managed. I had to go slow and be really careful with each stitch. There were a few times I had to rip out seams and start over, which was frustrating, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?

I also had to do some hand-sewing, especially for the trickier parts like attaching the handles and the zipper. My fingers were pretty sore by the end of it! It was really satisfying, though, seeing the bag take shape.

Putting the hardware on was the last major step. I attached the buckles and rings, making sure they were secure and looked good. This part involved a lot of careful measuring and some hammering, which was kind of fun, actually.

  • Gathered materials: Saffiano leather, thread, zipper, hardware.
  • Found and printed a pattern.
  • Cut out leather pieces.
  • Sewed pieces together using a sewing machine and by hand.
  • Attached hardware.

Finally, after all that work, the bag was finished! It took me a couple of weekends, but I did it. It’s not perfect, of course, there are a few little imperfections here and there, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It definitely looks like a Galleria bag, and it’s got that same classic style. Plus, it’s unique because I made it myself!

I’ve been using the bag for a few days now, and I’m really liking it. It’s a good size for my everyday stuff, and it feels really well-made. It’s a reminder that I can actually make something like this with my own two hands. Maybe I’ll try making another bag soon, who knows!

It was a challenging project, I am very happy with the result, I learned a lot and made a beautiful bag that I can use every day.

It’s the sense of accomplishment that really makes the whole process worth it.
