Okay, so I’ve been messing around with watches for a while now, and I’ve always been kinda obsessed with Patek Philippe. They’re like, the top dogs, you know? So, I decided to try my hand at remaking one of their classics – the Calatrava 6007G-011. It’s got that super clean, classic look that I just love.

First off, I started digging around online to see what people were saying about this watch. Turns out, it’s a pretty big deal in the watch world. Some folks say it’s a great investment, others, not so much. Guess it depends on your wallet and what you’re looking for. I just wanted to make one for myself, because, why not?

I found out that there are a bunch of different Calatrava models, and some of them are like, super collectible, especially the older ones. This 6007G-011 is a newer one, and it’s got this cool “Clous de Paris” bezel thing going on. Looks pretty fancy, but also kinda modern at the same time. It’s not your grandpa’s watch, that’s for sure.

Getting Started

So, I started by gathering all the parts I needed. This was a bit of a pain, not gonna lie. You can’t just walk into a store and buy Patek Philippe parts, haha. I had to scour the internet, check out some forums, and talk to a few guys who are way more into this stuff than I am. Eventually, I managed to track down everything, or at least, close enough to the real deal.

Putting it Together

Once I had all the pieces, it was time to put them together. Now, I’m not a professional watchmaker, so this was a bit of a challenge. I watched a ton of videos online, read a bunch of articles, and basically just tried my best not to screw it up. There were a few times when I thought I’d ruined the whole thing, but I kept at it, and slowly but surely, it started to come together.

  • First, I worked on the movement. This is like the engine of the watch, and it’s super complicated. I had to be really careful not to break anything.
  • Then, I put the dial together. This is the part with the numbers and the hands. It’s got that cool carbon fiber pattern, which was tricky to replicate, but I think I did alright.
  • Next, I assembled the case. This is the outer shell of the watch. It’s got that “Clous de Paris” bezel I mentioned before. I used a similar looking bezel to complete my work.
  • Finally, I put the strap on. I found a nice leather strap that looked pretty close to the original.

The Final Result

After a lot of work, I finally finished my homemade Calatrava 6007G-011. And you know what? It actually looks pretty good! It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few little things that are off, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s definitely not a real Patek Philippe, but it’s close enough for me. And it was a fun project to work on. Plus, now I can wear a “Patek Philippe” without having to sell my house, haha!

It was a wild ride, and honestly, it took way longer than I thought. But it was worth it. I learned a lot, and now I have a pretty cool watch to show for it. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was definitely a challenge, but it was also a lot of fun. If you are a watch lover, you can try it! Maybe you can do better than me.
