Alright, so I’ve been wanting to make this for a while now, and today I finally did it – I remade the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First things first, I had to do some digging. I scoured the internet, looking at every picture and description I could find of the real YSL JUNE BOX BAG. I wanted to get every detail just right. I spent hours on various online stores, even checked out some pharmacy websites like Chemist Warehouse ’cause I saw they had some YSL fragrances and I thought maybe they’d have bags too, no luck there, though. Then I went on to stores like Myer, they had some good stuff, makeup and fragrances mostly, but still, no bag. I saw some mentions of free delivery on orders above $99, which is cool, and 30 days free returns, that’s a good deal, but still, no bag for me.
Then I looked at the Saint Laurent official online store. Man, their stuff is beautiful. I found some similar handbags and shoes, got a good look at their ready-to-wear collection too. This gave me a solid idea of the materials and the overall vibe of the YSL brand. Not exactly what I was looking for to remake the bag, but it was helpful nonetheless.
After that, I started sketching. I drew the bag from different angles, noted down the dimensions, and tried to figure out the hardware situation. It was a bit tricky, but I managed to get a pretty good blueprint going. I didn’t know some of these things had names like “Amber Fougere fragrance” but I guess that’s what the Libre is, made by Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim, launched in 2019, with top notes of lavender, that’s what I read somewhere.
Next up, the materials. I went to a few local stores, trying to find the perfect leather and the right kind of metal for the chain and the logo. It took a few trips, but I eventually found what I needed. I even stumbled upon some other stuff, like a place called Kohl’s that had a sale on some YSL items. Made a mental note to check them out later for personal shopping.
Then came the hard part – actually making the bag. I cut the leather, sewed it together, and carefully attached the hardware. It was a slow and meticulous process, I tell ya. There were moments when I felt like giving up, but I pushed through. I made a few mistakes along the way, ripped some seams, had to redo some parts, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?
Finally, after days of work, it was done. My very own handmade version of the YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It’s not perfect, of course, but I’m pretty damn proud of it. I learned a lot during this project, and it was a fun challenge. It may not have the “Eau” or the fancy tags that the real ones have, but it’s mine, and I made it.
Here’s a quick rundown of the steps I took:
- Researched: Spent hours online looking at pictures and descriptions of the original bag.
- Sketched: Drew detailed sketches of the bag from different angles.
- Sourced materials: Visited local stores to find the right leather and hardware.
- Cut and sewed: Cut the leather according to my sketches and sewed the pieces together.
- Attached hardware: Carefully attached the chain, logo, and other metal parts.
- Finished: Admired my handiwork and took some pictures to share with you all.
So yeah, that’s my YSL JUNE BOX BAG remake story. Hope you enjoyed it!
