Alright, so, I got this wild idea to try and remake the Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG. I mean, who doesn’t love a good challenge, right? Plus, I’ve always been a fan of YSL bags – they’re just so classic and chic. And this one? The LE CARRé SATCHEL? It’s a beauty.
First things first, I needed to get a good look at the bag. I mean, really get to know it. So I spent hours on my computer looking at photos of it. Yeah, and all those online stores, zooming in on every little detail. I was basically studying the bag. I focused a lot on the YSL logo, it’s super important. On the real bags, it’s always really polished and precise, you know? That’s the kind of detail I needed to nail.
Then came the fun part – choosing the materials. It’s all about the leather, the hardware, everything. I needed to find stuff that looked and felt like the real deal. I spent days going to different shops, touching every piece of leather I could find. It was a whole process, let me tell you. I even asked for other’s opinion and wrote down all the details.
Main Body Construction
Cutting the leather:
- This was nerve-wracking. I double, triple-checked all my measurements before making a single cut. The LE CARRé has this really specific shape, so I had to get it just right.
Stitching it all together:
- I went for a classic saddle stitch. It’s strong and looks really neat. Plus, it gives that handmade vibe, which I love. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but I did my best, haha.
The edges:
- This is where things got a bit tricky. I had to burnish the edges, which is basically smoothing them out so they look all nice and finished. It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but eventually, I got there. And it turned out pretty good, huh?
The logo:
- Ah, the iconic YSL logo. I decided to go with a metal one. The real one is always super shiny and perfect. I think mine looks pretty good!
And then, after all that work, it was finally done! My very own, handmade version of the YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG. Was it perfect? Nah, of course not. But it was mine. And I learned a ton along the way. Plus, it’s a pretty cool feeling to carry around something you made yourself. Like, “Yeah, I made this.”
