Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with this high imitation Rolex, you know, the two-tone black Submariner. It’s pretty wild how close these things look to the real deal. I mean, they are everywhere. And I heard there are some guides to buy it. Anyway, I wanted to see what the fuss was all about.
Getting Started
First off, I needed to get my hands on one of these watches. I’ve heard that some places in London will give you a quote on the spot, and even pay you cash instantly. That sounds crazy, but also kinda cool. I did some digging around, filled out a simple form I found, and boom, I had a quote.
Finding a Retailer
Next, I checked out some retailers. There’s this one that’s supposedly the leading retailer in the UK for top-quality watch brands. They had a bunch of two-tone models. The price tags are something else. They are way more expensive than the all-steel ones because they use real gold. Fancy, right? But I heard that they hold their value pretty well for a while, especially the Rolex ones. That’s good to know if you ever decide to sell.
Comparing Models
I got a chance to compare a few different models. There’s this one, the Rolex Submariner reference 5517, with a maxi dial. It’s super rare, apparently. They only made about 1,500 of them. It’s a military watch, which makes it even cooler. I can see why collectors go nuts for these things.
The whole process
- Scouting: Spent a good chunk of time just looking at pictures and reading descriptions online.
- Contact: I contacted the retailers I found earlier.
- Comparing: Went to a couple of shops to see the watches in person. This was important because I wanted to see the quality up close.
- Negotiating: Tried to haggle a bit on the price. Didn’t get much of a discount, but hey, it was worth a shot.
- Purchase: Finally pulled the trigger and bought the two-tone black Submariner.
Final Thoughts
It’s been an interesting experience, for sure. These high imitation watches are something else. But when it comes to the real deal, the craftsmanship and history are just on another level. Maybe one day I’ll get a real one. For now, this imitation will do just fine.
