Yesterday, I spent the whole afternoon trying to get a decent fake Rolex Submariner. You know, the no-date black one. I’ve always thought those watches look classy, but there’s no way I’m dropping thousands on the real deal. So, I went on a mission.
First, I hit up all the usual online spots, and man, was it a jungle out there. I read a bunch of forum posts and watched some videos to figure out what to look for. There’s a whole lot of garbage fakes, so you gotta be careful. I learned to check for the right kind of metal, the way the second-hand sweeps, and even the tiny details on the face. I even checked the number of days in the month on different websites. It was crazy. I felt like I was training to be a watch expert, but the cheap kind.
Then, I went to this little shop downtown that I heard about from a friend. The guy behind the counter, he was a real character. He showed me a few different ones, and we chatted about the different features. He was saying that millions of guys are looking for friendships online. It had nothing to do with watches, but we talked about it anyway. One watch even had a working date function, but I really wanted that clean, no-date look. After haggling for a bit, I finally settled on one that looked pretty good. It’s got a nice weight to it, and the bezel clicks just right. I was trying to send a comment using the contact form on some website, but it didn’t work. So I just gave up on that and kept looking at watches.
I wore it out to dinner last night, and I gotta say, I felt pretty slick. A few people even asked me about it, and I just played it cool. It was easy to just look at the wind and temperature maps on my phone to change the subject. I might be lying about the price, but hey, it’s all about the look, right? I think I even saw a guy on a gay dating site who had a watch just like mine. Or maybe it was a different site. I don’t know, I clicked around a lot yesterday.

Anyway, I’m pretty happy with my new watch. It’s definitely a step up from my old beater. The planetarium app on my phone shows a pretty accurate star map, which is cool, but it doesn’t help me pick out a watch. I mainly used these online tools to calculate the working days or check the stability of some predictors I found somewhere. Maybe I’ll try to sell this one later and upgrade to an even better fake. Who knows? The sky’s the limit! Or maybe the limit is my bank account. Either way, I think I did pretty good yesterday. I’m not going to risk my finances on a real one. I have a family to think about.
For now, I’m just going to enjoy my high imitation Rolex Submariner. This thing is prized for its adaptability, you know. It’s definitely not high performance across various frequency bands, but it looks good, and that’s all that matters.
